Tabi wonderland

First one thing about me, as you could figure out I have a special thing for Japan, would it be the samurai era or the actual age. Therefor the idea of getting Tabi (traditionnal shoes/boots were the big toe is separated from the others) was absolutly natural for me despite the fact that they usualy look strange for occidental people. I surf the net for a while since there not the type of shoes you get at any store like sport shoes. I’ve seen all type, even found a tutorial to make them, it involve sock and tape (I’ll leave to your imagination how it must look like). That said I finally found mine, well I fell in love with AYYA spiral Tabi !!! If you’ve seen the last Star Trek movie it’s what the Romulan wear, bad ass look/ fashion/ unusual/ extra comfy/ durable as long as you take good care of the leather and not expensive considering all of the above. I wear them with pants/jean, skirts, dress… for casual or clean occassion they’re perfect. I currently own the boot version, and eyeing the Vajra Tabi lowcut.

I sometime find that I can spend a f#$@&*g lot of time on the internet, to read blog/news, find image, or follow a link that bring me to an other one and an other one and … well you get the picture. Hours can be spend that way, but once in a while you find a gem, for every two or three hours there is one thing that is worth it all, tonight I was looking for pics and idea for my Alice in Wonderland themed birthday party, a while ago I ended up on this blog the author did a wonderland expedition kit for his girlfriend BD so obviously I tried to find it (http://absinthetic.livejournal.com/776713.html) when finally I did there was some link added that wasn’t so obvious the fist time. So I followed it and found out about the talented Alex CF his artworks are gorgeous.

As he put it himself “i am a professional “cryptozoological scientific assemblage artist” and illustrator” You get that perfection feeling looking at them, detailed and heavy, the inspiration come from Lovecraft, Carol, 19th century archeology with a dark twist, and so, so much more. I’ll attempt to do my own just like absinthetic did, while I’m saving to get a original piece.

Some would say that it’s morbid (not I the “good” way) I don’t think so were the archaeologists of the beginning of century considered like that ? I don’t think so the were scientist looking for treasures/trace from the past. To me the only difference in this case is that they are artefact’s summoned from literature and they vivid imagination of men’s and women’s whom lived in society were the “unbelievable” was not so unbelievable. It was a period were science and religious faith still walked not far one from the other.

But I’m digressing, go see by yourself since one thing is for sure it will create a reaction …

Learning Japanes

This might sound strange but one of the reason I went to live in the city, was to learn Japanese, and also the fact is that it’s a lot more active than the suburbs and let not say the villages. But for many reason it didn’t happen. I eventually got to school and applied for Japanese studies (!) and Women studies, I was accepted in both programs and choose the later. So after 3 years in town I’ve listen to many movie (subtitled) and music in Japanese and still at the same point. So at the beginning of 2009 I decided that the time was now !

But were to start, there a college close to my place were they teach Japanese, but they’ll know when course start only by the end of February, maybe even March, too far in time. Looking on the web I found this site http://www.alljapaneseallthetime.com/blog/ witch led me to many other. And theres also http://www.iknow.co.jp/ that was brought to my attention trough Danny Chow (http://www.dannychoo.com/detail/mac/eng/image/14042/Learn+Japanese.html)

I’m combining all of this and downloaded Japanese podcast to get use to the pronunciation, like I did to learn English years ago. Still looking for a teacher but probably a “private” one and that will be for later. Also I’ve ordered myself book (mangaland serie) on Amazon.ca and should I say I’m pretty excited about this.

I’m geeking up myself into learning a new language I’ll keep writing about my progress in the futur but now I’m hungry

First time (part 2)

Polyvalence was created a couple month ago, and I had started writing in it but didn’t though of it’s persona, or should a say the path it would follow, therefore I started to write and … completely stopped after a few weeks. I mostly saw it as a notepad, which, for me, is not the right way to go, so I’ve erased everything and started fresh, I currently have the overall picture of what it’s going to be like.

At the same time it’s part of my need/decision to do deep rooted change in my life, some habit I need to let go off since they hold me back. So as you can imagine since mid-January my life is an emotional roller coaster : introspection, burst off motivation, discouragement, confusion … it’s a detox for the soul and the mind and dear let me tell you it ain’t easy. After all 28 year habits can’t vanish as fast as the blink of an eye !
